BONNIE EASTWOOD Artist Statement Bonnie Eastwood is a 3D Mixed Media artist who ahs been weaving on gourds with basketry for over 30 years. She can often be seen at festivals nationwide doing weaving demonstrations in her booth while interacting with the patrons who want to learn more about her art. When asked about the best things about art fairs, Bonnie said “independence, excitement, travel, and the great friends that are our family in this business.” Her artwork can be described as “hard shell gourds processed and collaged, dyed, painted, then woven with natural collected materials, basketry techniques. They are one of a kind designs handmade one by one.” Bonnie says she has always been creative and she is self taught, now earning a living with her art. She is doing juried art shows on weekends, traveling and enjoying life. According to Bonnie, “It is a brave person that does what she or he loves, be brave. It’s a blessing to do what you love.” Bonnie’s work will be available for purchase at the Leesburg Art Festival on Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4.
